BODY INTELLIGENCE
Body Intelligence is the developed connection between intention, perception and physical action: the ability to know what result you want, recognise what your body is actually doing and gradually make the required physical response reliable.
It is a connection I see across disciplines that have shaped my own work, particularly violin, fitness and ballet. The mind can understand an instruction almost immediately, while the body may still need to be educated through accurate, attentive practice. Repetition alone is not the goal, because the body learns what we actually repeat, including the movements and responses we did not intend to reinforce.
In the full article on Violin Academy, I explore Body Intelligence, its opposite Body Ignorance, the relationship between intention, body and sound, and why even an exceptional teacher cannot perform the physical learning that has to happen inside the student.
