Price is one of the easiest things to compare because it arrives as a number. The cost of a direction is much harder to see in advance.
In this essay for Violin Academy, I look at the hidden currencies inside music education: the years a student may spend reinforcing an ineffective approach, the cost of rebuilding it later, the effect a teacher's mindset can have on a student's self-belief, and the value of finding the root of a problem before investing more of a person's life in practising around it.
